Barbera
This is a popular Italian wine that goes extremely well with meals such as spaghetti bolognaise or anything tomato based and Italian.

Cabernet Sauvignon
A beautiful medium bodied grape that goes brilliantly with roasted meats such as beef or lamb.

Merlot
Merlots go beautifully with roast chicken and will also work with duck or turkey, making them perfect for those Sunday roasts.

Pinot Noir
Another wine that will wonderfully compliment roast turkey or lamb, a pinot noir is another one to add to the list for Sunday dinners.

Syrah
These wines are full bodies and go wonderfully with winter foods. Sryah’s perfectly compliment grilled steak and fit nicely with most roasted vegetables.

If you prefer white wines to red, then here’s a little guide to the different grape varieties to help you pick when you’re aiming to buy wine online or at the off-license for the next dinner party you’re hosting:

Chardonnay
These wines will go perfectly with fish such as salmon and will also act as a particularly good accompaniment to roast chicken or turkey

Sauvignon Blanc
One of the crisper French wines that goes extremely well with a variety of different cheeses including blue cheese and goat’s cheese.

Reisling Reislings go wonderfully with chicken based curries (like kormas) and will also work amazingly well with a Thai green curry.
